The Castle of ScillaThe Castle of Ruffos
The Castle of Ruffos is located on the majestic cliff of Scilla and divide the district of Marina Grande from Chianalea. A structure built in the past for purely military purposes, thanks to its position that allowed to control a stretch of the Strait of Messina. In 1620, after major restoration works became home of a noble family Ruffo. Interesting things to see inside: a ramp steps to compact gravel and stone edges, which is based on vaults and cruise with ancient carvings on the outside walls; an underground room that has the original floor and the roof covered with timber, time; large exhibition halls today devoted to important art exhibitions and not least the romantic view over the Strait of Messina that you can see from most corners of the castle.
